Drama day 17: The ultimate mom showdown

Working from the Office vs. Working from Home vs. SAHM vs. Entrepreneur Mom Welcome to the ultimate mom showdown, where the four most iconic mom jobs go head-to-head in a battle of wit, humor, and who’s truly the busiest! Grab your coffee, your favorite snack (or snack from your kid’s lunchbox, no judgment), and let’s dive into the world of the working mom. Spoiler alert: All these moms are superheroes, but the capes come in different colors! 1. The Office Mom: The Corporate Crusader There’s something magical about the office mom. She wakes up, gets dressed like she's attending the Met Gala (okay, maybe a little more casual, but still chic ), and heads to the office. Her mornings are a mix of coffee, phone calls, and making sure her kid hasn’t mysteriously misplaced their shoes (for the third time this week). At the office, she channels her inner boss lady—crushing deadlines, handling meetings, and yes, maybe sneaking in a few minutes to scroll through her kid’s adorable school...

Drama day 16: Finding God Inside and Outside

Two Opposite Paths to the Divine With the currently trending Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, I decided to write this post about my spiritual take on the whole issue. Disclaimer: I am just putting forward my thoughts, and this is not intended to hurt anyone's beliefs. Hopefully after reading this we may be able to churn some reflections of our own. India’s spiritual traditions are as diverse as its people, offering many ways to seek and understand the divine. Among these, the Kumbh Mela and the Marathi song "Kuthe Shodhisi Rameshwar" stand out for me—not just for their profound messages but also for the contrasting philosophies they represent. On the one hand, the Kumbh Mela encourages a physical journey to sacred places, where external rituals bring spiritual connection. On the other, "Kuthe Shodhisi Rameshwar" by Sant Tukaram dismisses external searches altogether, urging us to look within. These two ideas—outward pilgrimage and inward realization—seem to c...

Drama day 15: Embracing Slow Living in a Fast-Paced World

Working Parent's Journey in Go In the heart of laid-back Goa, where the sound of the ocean is your morning alarm and the rhythm of the waves lulls you into a state of tranquility, you might imagine that life moves a little slower. But even in this idyllic coastal paradise, the modern world has a way of pulling you into its fast pace. With an MNC job that demands your attention, two young kids to raise, and the never-ending stream of responsibilities that come with both, it can often feel like the balance between work, family, and self-care is just out of reach. It begs the question: How do you embrace slow living when life is moving so fast? Slow living is often idealized as a lifestyle of endless leisure, where time moves leisurely and obligations seem far away. But the truth is, slow living is not about escaping the busyness of life—it’s about finding a way to live more intentionally within it. It’s about shifting from the constant race to achieve and do, to simply being present,...

Drama day 14: A Working Mom’s Home Cleaning Routine

Staying Organized with Two Kids Balancing work, kids, and household chores can feel overwhelming, but having a little help and a structured cleaning routine can make all the difference. As a working mom with two children, I’ve developed a realistic cleaning schedule segmented into daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to keep the house tidy without sacrificing quality time with my family. Needless to say I also hire help to do the dishes, mop/sweep the floors on a daily basis(so thankful!). Here’s how I manage my portion of the cleaning: Daily Cleaning Routine These tasks are quick and essential for maintaining a baseline of cleanliness: Morning: Make the beds. Start a load of laundry (if needed). Evening: Clear and wipe kitchen counters after dinner. Put toys and clutter back in their designated places (kids can help!). Tip: Encourage your kids to pitch in by assigning age-appropriate tasks, like putting their shoes away or wiping small surfaces. Weekly Cleanin...

Drama day 13: Travelling with kids

Flight and Road Trip Adventures Traveling with young children can be both an exciting adventure and a logistical challenge. When you have a 7-year-old and a 2-year-old in tow, careful planning and a bit of creativity are essential to ensure a smooth journey. In this blog post, we’ll explore tips and strategies for two distinct types of travel: flying and road-tripping. Journey 1: Taking to the Skies Flying with young children might seem daunting, but with preparation, it can be a manageable and even enjoyable experience. Here’s how we tackled a 3-hour flight with our kids: Before the Flight: Choose flight times wisely: We opted for a mid-morning flight to avoid early morning crankiness and nap disruptions for our 2-year-old. Pack strategically: Each child had their own small backpack. The 7-year-old’s pack included activity books, storybook and snacks. For the 2-year-old, we brought diapers, wipes, a favorite stuffed toy, and an assortment of small, quiet toys. Prepare ...

Drama day 12: My OTT Addiction

I never thought I’d find myself in this position as I usually pride myself as someone with self-discipline and will-power, but I admit I’m a recovering OTT addict. For those blissfully unaware, OTT stands for Over-The-Top platforms, like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+. They’re the magical portals that bring us gripping dramas, heartwarming comedies, and endless reality TV. But for me, they became something else entirely—an escape, a crutch, and ultimately, a problem. Let me set the scene: I’m a mom of two energetic kids, a marketing manager by day, and a reluctant chef, chauffeur, and homework helper by night. My days are packed, my patience runs thin, and my energy… well, let’s just say coffee is my lifeline. Somewhere in this whirlwind of responsibilities, I found solace in binge-watching. It started innocently enough. A show here, a movie there. But soon, I was staying up late to watch “just one more episode” of the latest hit series. Sleep became an afterthought, replaced by c...

Drama day 11: Zatra

When you think of Goa, sun-kissed beaches, electrifying nightlife, and its Portuguese heritage might come to mind. However, there's another vibrant facet to Goa that often escapes the spotlight: its traditional " Zatra " celebrations. Rooted deeply in the state’s cultural and spiritual ethos, Zatra is more than just a religious Hindu festival; it’s a grand confluence of devotion, art, and community spirit. What is Zatra? Zatra  is a temple fair or pilgrimage festival that celebrates the local deity of a village or town. These festivals, which typically last for several days, are an integral part of Goa’s Hindu culture and heritage. They occur at different times of the year, often aligning with specific lunar phases or significant dates in the Hindu calendar. The Spiritual Core At the heart of every Zatra is the worship of the presiding deity of a temple. These deities are deeply revered as protectors and benefactors of their communities. During the Zatra , the idol ...

Drama day 10: Weekend overhaul

Saturday Meal Prep Overhaul: A Goan Mom's Guide to Wholesome, Flavorful Weekdays As Goans, we take immense pride in our culinary heritage—each meal an expression of tradition and flavor, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Whether it’s visiting the bustling local markets to select the best catch of the day or picking out vibrant vegetables, cooking is an integral part of our lifestyle. For us, food isn’t just about sustenance—it’s a celebration of our coastal culture, a reflection of our connection to the land and sea. But, as life becomes increasingly busy, balancing this cherished tradition with modern demands can be challenging. As a mom committed to nourishing my family with organic, home-cooked meals, finding the time for daily market visits and elaborate cooking can be tough. That’s where meal prepping comes in. Saturdays are my designated day for a deep dive into meal prep, ensuring that the rest of the week runs smoothly without compromising on flavor or nutrition. In ...

Drama day 9: Brothers at Odds

Being a full-time work-from-home mom to two boys—a feisty 2-year-old and an energetic 7-year-old—life in our Goa home is anything but dull. Throw in a husband, a helpful nanny, and a spirited dog, and you’ve got a recipe for organized chaos! Amid the whirlwind of tantrums, toy battles, and heartfelt hugs, the bond between my boys is an ever-present reminder of what’s truly important. The Chaos of Rivalry If you’ve ever witnessed a 2-year-old gleefully knocking over a 7-year-old’s carefully constructed LEGO masterpiece, you’ve had a front-row seat to the frustration that fuels sibling rivalry. The older brother might yell, “Stop it! You ruined everything!” while the younger one stares wide-eyed, with a grin on his face, more curious than contrite. At this stage, the older sibling often struggles with the sudden realization that they have to share attention, toys, and even space. The younger sibling, on the other hand, is eager to assert their presence in the world and often does so by t...

Drama day 8: The Silent Struggle

When Life Overwhelms, Even in Stability So far, I’ve been using this space to chronicle my daily life—sharing the highs, the lows, and the little victories that make each day unique. But today, I feel the need to pause that narrative and delve into something deeper, something that’s been sitting heavy on my heart. It’s about a reality that many of us experience but rarely discuss: how life can feel overwhelmingly difficult, even when you’re in a loving relationship and are more or less financially stable. This isn’t a confession of failure but an exploration of the silent struggles that come with juggling it all. Let’s talk about it. We often hear that love and financial stability are the keys to a happy, stress-free life. But those living this supposed "ideal" know a truth often unspoken: even with a supportive partner and a steady income, life can feel crushingly overwhelming. The juggling act of responsibilities, societal expectations, and personal battles often leaves o...

Drama day 7: Rhythms of a Busy Life

The alarm doesn’t wake me; my internal clock does. It’s 5:30 AM, and the house is silent—the kind of silence that carries potential. I roll out of bed, careful not to wake my 2-year-old, whose energy level rivals that of a whirlwind, or my 7-year-old, who’s a little more forgiving of a disturbed morning. My day begins not with coffee, but with a moment of stillness—a quick meditation that feels like grounding before the storm. By 6:00 AM, I’m already in the kitchen. Breakfast prep is part strategy, part survival—two different appetites to please, plus my own, all before the nanny arrives at 8:00 AM. By the time I’ve flipped the last roti, the house starts to stir. The 7-year-old wakes up groggy but cooperative, while the 2-year-old—already plotting his next escapade—flashes a mischievous grin. By 8:00 AM, the nanny takes over toddler duties, and my older one heads off to school. It’s go-time for me. From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, I’m deep into work mode. My job is remote, but that doe...

Drama day 6: Solo Parenting Edition

Life as a working parent is a juggling act, and when my husband is out of town for a business trip, the stakes feel higher. Here's how a typical day unfolds for me while managing work and my two boys, aged 7 and 2. Morning Rush: 5:30 AM - 8:00 AM My day started early, with the alarm going off at 5:30 AM. This is my sacred quiet time before the chaos begins. I use it to sip my coffee, set intentions for the day, and prepare breakfast. By 7:00 AM, the boys were up. The 7-year-old got ready for school while I managed the 2-year-old’s morning routine. Breakfast is a mix of Indian breads, some dip/chutney to go with it and fruits, and a mandatory glass of milk. The school drop-off at 8:00 AM marked the start of the first milestone: one child out the door! Mid-Morning: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Back home, it was time for work. My 2-year-old stayed with the nanny, and I tried to tackle emails and urgent tasks during his playtime. Sometimes, he sits beside me with his toys or doodles, an...

Drama day 5: A Sunday of Care and Comfort: Managing Sick Kids

Parenting is a journey filled with surprises, and some Sundays come with unexpected challenges. This week, my two boys, aged 7 and 2, woke up with a persistent cough. While it meant forgoing our usual outings, the day turned into an opportunity to slow down and focus on their comfort and recovery. Morning: Tender Beginnings Both boys woke up later than usual, around 8:00 AM, looking tired and clingy. After checking their temperatures (thankfully, no fevers!), I started the day with a warm glass of turmeric milk for each of them. For breakfast, I whipped up some soft idlis and blueberries—easy on their throats and appetizing enough to entice them to eat. With cuddles and cartoons, the morning passed slowly. I kept the younger one entertained with his favorite toy cars while the elder one enjoyed a quiet storybook session in his bed. Midday: Nutrition and Rest For lunch, I prepared a soothing bowl of black rice kanji and with soft boiled vegetables, which both boys managed to eat w...

Drama day 4: A Perfect Saturday: Balancing School and Family Fun

As a working parent to two energetic boys, aged 7 and 2, Saturdays are a blend of structure and relaxation. With a little planning and a lot of love, we turn the day into a memorable mix of productivity and quality time. Here's a glimpse into one of our Saturdays with morning school for the elder one and an evening picnic for all. Morning Hustle: Prepping for School The day begins early as usual, with both boys waking up around 7:00 AM. After a quick round of cuddles, we move to the breakfast table. Keeping it simple yet nutritious, I serve a mix of toast, eggs, and fruit for the 7-year-old, while the 2-year-old enjoys his favorite porridge. By 7:45 AM, it’s time to get the elder one ready for school. Uniform? Check. Homework? Check. Water bottle and snack box? Double-check. By 8:00 AM, he’s out the door, and the house feels momentarily calmer. Morning Activities with the Toddler With the elder one at school until 1:30 PM, the morning becomes my dedicated time with the 2-year-old...

Drama day 3: Back to the grind

After the New Year’s Day, we are back to the grind of school runs, work deadlines, and bedtime battles..  5:00 AM - Me Time: My alarm goes off, and it’s time to seize the day. I’ve learned the importance of prioritizing myself first thing in the morning, irrespective of what day of the year it is. It’s my sacred hour for self-care. I start with meditation to ground my thoughts and give me time to properly wake up, followed by stretching and some yoga to boost my energy. Then, it’s time for my favorite ritual: savoring a warm cup of coffee while  planning the day ahead. I try to set the outline for my daily blog post during this time as well. Once that's taken care of its time for breakfast and meal preparation, setting the tone for a productive day. 7:00 AM - The Kids Wake Up: With my kids awake, it’s a whirlwind of activity. I prep meals, help my older one get ready for school, and manage my little one’s needs. School runs are taken care of by my husband,  ensurin...

Drama day 2: Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year! 🎉 It’s that time of the year when my munchkins are all home, there’s no office grind, no school hustle, but...no house help either! 😅 It’s a classic “susegaado” laid-back day here in Goa, and I’m embracing it with open arms, ready to spend some quality time with the fam at home. Here’s how I’m planning to rock this chill New Year’s Day.. 5:30 AM – Rise and shine! First things first, I’m starting my day with some me-time (hello, quiet moments!). A warm cup of  coffee in hand, I’ll dive into some journaling, maybe a dash of meditation, and think about all the exciting goals I want to conquer this year. The vibe? Calm, focused, and ready to take on whatever comes my way. 7:00 AM – Good morning fam Time to wake up the kiddos and kickstart the day together! No rush, just a cozy breakfast, some giggles, and maybe a cheeky New Year’s wish activity. The goal? Everyone’s starting the day with smiles and positivity! 8:00 AM – Family Fun Time! With no school or offic...
